METOP Reception and Processing System

The new European polar orbting satellite METOP started direct readout trial dissemination in January 2007, but unfortunately experienced a transmitter failure some months later. At present METOP data is only disseminated via EUMETCast. Availability of a METOP processing module for PCWINSAT-SG systems using EUMETCast reception has been communicated to all registered users..

To be prepared for the second METOP satellite, direct reception systems are immediately available. Normally these systems are equipped with a high-end tracking antenna subsystem with 1,8m or 2,4m dish, following the EUMETSAT recommendations for METOP HRPT user stations. This antennas are also capable to receive the future Second Generation NOAA satellites (from 2009).

For lower requirements METOP can also be received using conventional NOAA HRPT antenna trackers with 1 m or 1,2 m dish in most applications, as soon as METOP will resume direct dissemination. In case you are interested, please send your request.



Automatic DVD/CD Archiving System

For scientific applications and other uses, where long term archiving of the received data is required, a system ectension allows automatic writing to DVD or CD, including labeling. Manual operation is limited to occasional refilling of the blank CD magazine.
